The York Region District School Board (YRDSB) is pleased to announce the school year calendar for the 2025-2026 academic year. This calendar has been developed in consultation with stakeholders, including students, parents, staff, and the community, to ensure that it meets the needs of all members of the school community.
Key Dates
The key dates for the 2025-2026 school year are as follows:
- First Day of School: Tuesday, September 2, 2025
- Thanksgiving Break: Monday, October 13, 2025 – Friday, October 17, 2025
- Christmas Break: Monday, December 22, 2025 – Friday, January 2, 2026
- March Break: Monday, March 15, 2026 – Friday, March 20, 2026
- Last Day of School: Friday, June 26, 2026
School Hours
School hours for elementary and secondary schools will be as follows:
- Elementary Schools: 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Secondary Schools: 8:45 AM – 3:15 PM
Professional Development Days
Professional development days are days set aside for teachers to participate in professional development activities. There will be four professional development days during the 2025-2026 school year:
